Second Renaissance

I've opened a second shop on Etsy, because I thought there should be some separation between "fun" items like my stretchy rubber chainmaille (and most anodized aluminum items) and the classier stuff I make in precious metals, including sterling silver, argentium (nontarnish) silver, gold filled and my true love, brilliant anodized niobium.

This is the direction I'm hoping to take in the new year.  By no means to I intend to stop making the "fun" items (they're too much fun!), but I want to get more into these precious metals.  I want to do more wire wrapping.  In the weeks to come I hope to try my hand at silver wire filigree.  And I'm dabbling a little in making peyote cuffs and lacy chokers in Miyuki seed beads, mostly with a Victorian or Asian Art theme.  Of course, there will be plenty of chainmaille in precious metals in the new shop, as well.

Ambitious?  Yep.  I'm at just about my one year anniversary of learning to make jewelry.  I think I'm ready for the next level and to branch out in my creativity.  Thus, I give you my Second Renaissance.

[Note:  The coin is not for sale as I wire wrapped it for a friend of mine, but I plan on doing a few more interesting coins as I can find them.  Currently I have a WW1 era German mark 2-headed eagle coin that will be getting some wire love.  Keep an eye on Second Renaissance for it.]
